The third-party services goFrigg uses

This page lists every outside service goFrigg works with, what each one receives, and when. It exists so you do not have to guess.

Services your browser talks to

These load or receive data directly in your browser while you use the site.

Clerk

Sign-in and accounts. When you sign in or manage your account, your browser talks to Clerk, which receives your email address and sign-in details. Account avatars load from Clerk's image host.

Cloudflare Turnstile

The automated bot check shown during sign-in, rendered in a frame. When it runs, Cloudflare receives the connection details any website you visit sees.

PostHog

Product analytics. When analytics is running in your browser, page views and interaction events are sent to PostHog's US cloud.

Sentry

Error reporting. When something breaks in the app or on our servers, an error report is sent to Sentry so we can find and fix it.

Google Fonts

The site's typefaces. When a page loads, your browser requests a stylesheet and font files from Google's font hosts.

Services our servers talk to

These are called from our servers on your behalf while the app does its work.

OpenStreetMap Nominatim

Reverse geocoding for the detect-my-state feature. If you use it and allow location access, our servers send approximate, rounded coordinates to the Nominatim service to look up your state. Your browser talks only to goFrigg, and your precise coordinates are not sent on.

Stripe

Payments. When you buy a plan, checkout and billing run on Stripe's hosted pages, and Stripe receives your payment details.

Resend

Email delivery. When goFrigg sends you an email, Resend receives your email address and the message.

Twilio

Text message delivery. If you opt in to text alerts, Twilio receives your mobile number and the message when goFrigg texts you, and receives the number and body of any reply you text back, including STOP and HELP.

Google Calendar

Calendar sync. If you connect a Google Calendar, Google receives the maintenance events goFrigg creates for you and the account identity behind your consent.

Google Firebase Cloud Messaging

Notifications on the Android app. If you install the goFrigg Android app and allow notifications, Google receives a device token for your phone and the title and text of a reminder when goFrigg sends you one.

Apple Push Notification service

Notifications on the iPhone and iPad app. If you install the goFrigg iOS app and allow notifications, Apple receives a device token for your device and the title and text of a reminder when goFrigg sends you one.

NHTSA

Vehicle recall lookups. If you save a VIN on a vehicle, the full VIN is sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a US government agency, which returns the make, model and year; those three then go back to the agency to look up open recalls. This runs when your dashboard checks that vehicle for recalls and when you open its Parts & gear tab.

National Weather Service

Weather alerts. Coordinates for locations you save are sent to the National Weather Service, a US government agency, to check for active alerts.

Neon

The database. The data you save in goFrigg lives in a Postgres database hosted by Neon.

Render

Hosting. The goFrigg app runs on Render's infrastructure, which handles every request your browser makes to the app.

Cloudflare

The marketing site and your uploads. Cloudflare serves gofrigg.com and stores the photos and documents you upload.

One thing that looks like a vendor and is not

Your country and state or region are inferred from your IP address, using a database bundled with the app or, where it is available, location details our network provider adds to the request. No IP address leaves our servers for that lookup, and the raw IP address is never stored. Visit logs keep a one-way hash of it, the country and region, the website you came from (the site name only, never the full address) and the campaign tags in the link you followed (utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign). When analytics is on, the first time you visit we also save a small cookie holding the page you landed on, the site you came from and those campaign tags. When you create an account we keep that first visit with it, so we can see which links bring people to goFrigg. If you answer the optional question about how you heard about goFrigg, we keep your answer, and any short note you add, with it too; you can skip it, and with analytics off your answer is not saved. A visit with analytics off, or from a browser sending a Global Privacy Control signal, is not recorded this way. Where you have entered a ZIP code for one of your things, we use that ZIP code first to work out which state our members are in, and the region from your connection only where there is none.

Sponsors and links to other sellers

Pages may show sponsor placements, and some links point to products sold by other companies. Sponsored links are labelled as sponsored in the page markup. A purchase made through one of those links happens on the seller's site under the seller's terms and refund policy; our refund policy covers goFrigg subscriptions, not purchases from other companies.

Their policies govern what they receive

Each service above handles data under its own privacy policy, linked in its row. We choose these services deliberately, but we do not control them, and what they do with the data they receive is governed by their policies rather than this page.

Opting out of analytics

This site uses PostHog to count visits and link clicks, including the campaign tags in a link, and to measure how quickly pages load, so we can see which pages and posts bring people here. It does not record sessions. A browser sending a Global Privacy Control signal is not counted, and neither is a browser that has turned analytics off on our privacy choices page; that choice also turns analytics off in the goFrigg app in the same browser. Affiliate and Sponsored Content Disclosure

5.1 Our approach

goFrigg may recommend products, retailers, manufacturers, and services that we believe are relevant to maintenance, preparedness, ownership, or asset care. Some links are affiliate or referral links. If you follow one of these links and complete a qualifying purchase or other action, goFrigg may receive a commission or referral fee.

Using an affiliate link generally does not add a separate charge to your purchase. Prices, availability, terms, warranties, and returns are controlled by the seller or provider.

5.2 Recommendations and compensation

Compensation does not guarantee a recommendation, ranking, positive review, or preferred placement. Our goal is to consider usefulness, suitability, value, availability, user experience, and relevance to the task. When practical, goFrigg may show more than one retailer so the steward can choose where to buy.

5.3 Short disclosure used near links

goFrigg may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through some links, at no additional cost to you.

5.4 Sponsored or paid placements

If a brand pays goFrigg for a placement, sponsorship, or other promotional exposure, that relationship will be identified clearly with language such as "Sponsored," "Paid Partnership," or another clear label appropriate to the format.

5.5 Amazon Associates

If goFrigg participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, this identification statement applies:

Service Provider and Referral Disclosure

Referrals to third-party providers

goFrigg may help users identify third-party service providers for maintenance, repair, inspection, installation, or other services. goFrigg may receive a referral fee or other compensation if you contact, book, or hire a provider through certain goFrigg links or referral features. When compensation applies, we will disclose that relationship clearly.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, third-party providers are independent businesses and are not employees or agents of goFrigg. They control their own pricing, availability, advice, work, warranties, insurance, licensing, permits, employees, and customer relationships.

If goFrigg describes a provider as "vetted," "verified," or similar, we will define what we actually checked. A vetting label is not a guarantee of future performance, workmanship, safety, pricing, or compliance. Users should make the final hiring decision and may independently verify credentials, insurance, licensing, references, and scope of work.
